Celebrating Africa Day

The Embassy of Algeria in Bujumbura (Burundi) participated in the celebrations of Africa Day, observed on May 25, 2026. Held under the high patronage of the Burundian Head of State, Current Chairperson of the African Union, the event took place in the presence of members of the African diplomatic corps, as well as representatives of diplomatic and UN missions accredited to Bujumbura.

On this occasion, the Embassy organized an exhibition of Algerian handicrafts, open to the general Burundian public. The Burundian President and the First Lady visited the Algerian booth and explored its cultural displays. An illustrated book on the life of Emir Abdelkader El Djazaïri was presented to the Burundian Head of State. This event also provided an excellent opportunity for the Burundian public to discover Algerian culture.

Additionally, members of the Embassy participated in a football match organized for the occasion, which pitted the African Diplomatic Corps team against the Burundian Ministry of Foreign Affairs team, led by Mr. Edouard Bizimana, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
