Commemoration of the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious liberation revolution of November 1, 1954

The Algerian Embassy in Bujumbura commemorated the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the Glorious Revolution of November 1, 1954, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, by hosting a reception.

The event was graced by the participation of His Excellency the Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency the First Lady, members of parliament, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Republic of Burundi.

Members of the Algerian community residing in Burundi, representatives of civil society, the media, and Burundian alumni who attended Algerian universities were also in attendance.

In her speech, Her Excellency Ambassador Sabah Fedel emphasized the central role of this event in Algerian history and its connection to liberation movements in Africa. She also highlighted the historical links between Algeria and Burundi, noting that the shared political will to strengthen bilateral cooperation opens new partnership opportunities in areas such as energy, health, agriculture, and the environment.

For his part, H.E. M. Syldie MANIREREKANA, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech in which he recalled that the War of Liberation of November 1st remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration and praised the strength of the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, while reaffirming the Republic of Burundi's commitment to strengthening and diversifying its partnership with Algeria.
