Commemorating the 64th anniversary of the October 17, 1961 demonstrations

Today, the Algerian Embassy in Bujumbura commemorated National Immigration Day, which commemorates the 64th anniversary of the October 17, 1961 demonstrations. Algeria commemorates the victims of the massacre perpetrated by the French colonialists against peaceful Algerian demonstrators in France, under the slogan "Solidarity and Commitment." After raising the flag and listening to the national anthem, followed by the recitation of Al-Fatiha for the souls of the righteous martyrs, Ambassador Sabah FEDEL, accompanied by the embassy staff and in the presence of members of our Algerian community residing in the Republic of Burundi, observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims who fell during these events. The Ambassador then delivered a speech, recalling the achievements of this occasion, deeply rooted in the history of the national struggle, particularly among our diaspora, and their contribution through this struggle to supporting the revolution and conveying its voice to the world. She also emphasized the critical importance of our national community's participation in Algeria's development and progress. Long live Algeria! Glory and immortality to our righteous martyrs.
