Celebration of National Day of Moudjahid - August 20, 1955 - 1956 / 2026

The Embassy of Algeria in Bujumbura commemorated on Thursday, August 20, 2026, the National Day of Moudjahid, marking the double anniversary of the North Constantinois Offensives and the Soummam Congress (August 20, 1955–1956). The ceremony featured the hoisting of the national flag, the playing of the national anthem, and the recitation of Al-Fatiha in memory of our righteous martyrs.

On this occasion, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i.  Mr. Oussama Bouraiou, delivered a brief address highlighting the pivotal impact of these two historic events on the trajectory of the Algerian Revolution. He underscored their role in reigniting its momentum, structuring its organization, and elevating its political dimension as a liberation cause. Furthermore, he urged drawing inspiration from these historic milestones to advance the nation across all fields, honoring the sacred legacy of the martyrs.
